A little story about Bubbly

Bubbly is the happy one — and sometimes sad underneath. A story about saying how you really feel.

Bubbly swimming in a ring of bubbles between two jellyfish
Sunshine Bay! Bubbly’s friends said they would come and play. He waits by the jellyfish. He waits some more. Nobody comes yet.
Bubbly laughing with his eyes closed, doing the Bubble Dance
“I’m fine!” Bubbly tells the bubbles. He does his biggest Bubble Dance. Spin, wiggle, bubbles everywhere! Laughing loud is easier than feeling quiet.
Bubbly looking worried
The dance stops. The smile slips. “I’m… sad,” says Bubbly, very small. Then a bit louder: “I’m sad.” The sad stays a while. It isn’t hiding anymore.

Your child can answer, point to a picture, or simply keep listening.

For grown-ups

A cheerful friend can feel sad, too. There is no need to perform happiness.
